An exploration of the importance of family memories and how they evolve. Within the book, Lori Spencer shares eight memories that are are described in twofold; one on each double page spread with Lori’s account on the right page, and her sister, Wendy’s on the left. The main details of the stories, often humorous, awkward, and revealing, are told in a pop out square in the middle of the page spread. Spencer articulates the shared nostalgic connections between the two with the image of both sisters, surrounded with textural collage, are revealed throughout the book by the die cuts of the pop up page. The structure of the book successfully reflects the relationship between two sisters who are raised in the same environment. Likely relatable to those who have shared experience with growing up with siblings in the same home, and how collective memory vs. individual memory sustains. For example;
