Mary May lives in Edinburgh, Scotland. She studied BA Hons Fine Art and Post Grad Diploma in Textile Design and worked as a textile designer until becoming a mum, then mainly worked on painting in her spare time.
After retiring in 2020, She began to paint full-time and won an award at the Royal Scottish Academy, leading to a solo show in Edinburgh in 2022. She had a long time yearning to learn to screenprint on paper and she learned to do this at the Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop when it re-opened after lockdown. She is working on this (slowly!) alongside working on paintings that she shows at galleries in Scotland.
Her work is all about fun and she hopes her pieces reflect the joy she feels in making them.
